The Australian Computer Society is the official body in charge of determining how to apply for a Skill Assessment. On behalf of the Australian Government, ACS analyzes potential ICT professionals to ensure applicants fulfil the applicable assessing authority standards for employment in Australia in a designated occupation. This evaluation is performed to analyze the applicant's knowledge, credentials, and abilities earned over their academic year and job time. An applicant can prepare for their skill evaluation by working with a registered migration agent. The prerequisites for applying for a skills assessment in the Migration Skills Assessment program are outlined in the ACS Guidelines. They do not, however, offer detailed information on migration or visa needs. The Department of Home Affairs is in charge of all visa-related matters.
Making an online application
The information and authentic documents you give in the online application form will be used to assess your knowledge and skills for the Migration skill assessment. You must include the following papers with your application:
- The passport identification page contains your name and other details.
- Evidence of a name change (if applicable)
- Mention the name of the university where the degree was received. If you cannot show sufficient documentation of degree completion, your certification will be declared unsuitable.
- Upload your unit or course names or points achieved in chronological order for your degree or award transcript. If you hold a post-graduate degree, you must also produce documentation of your undergraduate degree.
- References from previous employers, as well as evidence of paid employment
- If you apply for RPL, you will also need to submit an ACS RPL form.
- The resume will be uploaded to the personal documents area.
- Form for Authorization of a Migration Agent, if appropriate
Before submitting an online application, your application must be decision-ready, which means you must supply all required documentation to guarantee that your application is considered as soon as possible.
ACS is under no obligation to request additional documentation. Application of incomplete or faulty papers may result in a delay of the submission and an undesirable conclusion. Each applicant should ensure that the information entered into the online application process is correct and a truthful depiction of their personal information, education, and job.
Application Status
Following the submission of your online application, you will be informed via email for confirmation. This will include your ACS reference number and password, which applicants will be able to use to log in to the dashboard and monitor the online application status. Any further information about your application that is not contained in the online application status cannot be provided.
Priority request
Priority requests are available for candidates who have a visa deadline in Australia in less than twelve weeks from the date of application. The deadline notice must be of at least two weeks. Proof of the visa date must be given as a PDF document for the request to be accepted. Examples of documentation to upload as evidence:
- The Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) page displaying the visa expiration date.
- Include a letter from the Department of Home Affairs granting a visa.
After submitting the ACS skills application, the deadline notice must be received. Depending on the deadline circumstances, the ACS has the power to authorize a Priority Request. All priority requests that do not reach a visa deadline will be considered ordinary applications.
Time Required for Application Processing
The total time required to complete an application is determined by the quality of the documents you provide. If your application is ready for a decision and follows ACS criteria, it will be handled quickly. If the documents are incomplete and the authority has requested further papers, the application will take longer to process. The average processing period for an application is eight to 10 weeks.
Assessment Procedure
ACS skill evaluations will determine if your academic qualifications and work experience are at an expert ICT level and relevant to the ANZSCO profession. Your abilities and qualifications will be evaluated to ensure that they satisfy the Australian education level. The course unit will be evaluated to determine whether your qualification's ICT content is Major, Minor, or inadequate. In addition, suitable work experience in the specified occupation will be assessed to match the needed criteria. The ACS outcome letter will be emailed to you in PDF format.
If your evaluation is successful, the letter and verification of your skill assessment will be forwarded to the DOHA. If your result letter is unsuccessful, the letter will explain why and include information on the review and appeal procedures.
Renewal and reapplication
The Australian Computer Society does not offer letter renewal. By logging onto your dashboard, you must submit a new application using the online application site.
